Certification

Why PADI

PADI is an international diver training system. A certificate earned in Baku is valid in any country. The programme and the requirements are the same everywhere.

The card matters in practice. At a dive centre abroad you will be asked for your certification and logbook. With the card they hand out gear, fill tanks and take you out to a reef or a wreck. Without it you get an introductory dive with an instructor in shallow water.

The level of the card sets your depth. Open Water Diver lets you dive with a buddy to 18 metres, Advanced Open Water to 30. Specialties and professional ratings come next. Each step opens the following one.

The card does not expire. There is nothing to renew or retake. After a long break you refresh your skills in one session with an instructor.

Behind PADI standards is training practice from around the world. Depth limits, the buddy rule, the pre-dive equipment check, procedures for equipment failure. The instructor is required to follow them, and PADI monitors compliance.

Baku Scuba is the first official PADI centre in Azerbaijan, working since 2013. You learn from the same materials used in Hurghada, Phuket and the Maldives.
